Trauma Therapy

What happened to you wasn’t your fault. But now you’re left with pain to untangle.

You don’t have to do it alone.

I offer a warm, nonjudgmental presence to help you untangle your symptoms with expert guidance so you can finally get relief from the past.

You’re just so exhausted.

You feel tight all the time. Jaw clenched all the time. On the verge of crying all the time.

You’re just so angry, resentful, and over it.

You might even be dealing with chronic illness and pain from years of untreated symptoms.

It’s the ultimate fatigue.

A woman with red hair holding her head in a thoughtful pose, sitting at a desk in an office or home setting.

It might sound like:

  • “I always let emotions cloud my ability to communicate well for myself.”

  • “I feel like I’m never in control.”

  • “I feel trapped in my thoughts.”

  • “I hate myself.”

  • “I always thought I had a normal childhood, but I never feel good. I don’t know what’s wrong.”

  • “I know what I need to do most of the time, but it’s either too hard or it doesn’t help. I wonder if part of me doesn’t even want help.”

The truth is, the harder you try, the more exhausted you become.

Because even though you’re desperate to move forward from your past, you can’t do it alone.

You need the help of someone who has the expertise to guide you through the process of untangling.

Trauma has entangled you.

You might be repelled by the term “trauma,” especially as it’s been overused in our culture. In therapy here, trauma does not always mean one single catastrophic event. It can also describe the lasting impact of experiences that overwhelmed your ability to cope, feel safe, or stay connected to yourself.

When your body is overly stressed, it can activate what’s called your sympathetic nervous system. Without thinking, you suddenly go on the defensive. You run from the feeling, avoiding its existence entirely. Or you are overcome with anger that feels bigger than the present moment. You completely freeze up. Or you lean into intense people pleasing, chronically abandoning yourself as you try to take care of others.

Fight. Flight. Freeze. Fawn. This is your body’s way of surviving.

A hand holding a tangled mess of colorful rubber bands.

But you can’t stay there. If you do, it’ll eventually lead to over functioning, overwhelm, and over exhaustion. Which is what you’re experiencing now.

Trauma isn’t just something that happens to you. It stays in your body. And if left unprocessed, it grows like an invasive vine left untended.

And eventually, you are completely ensnared by the overgrowth. Trapped. Exhausted from fighting it. And maybe even despondent about the possibility of breaking free.

But you are not alone.

I am here to help you untangle the knots holding you captive so you can finally find relief.

What you’ve gone through isn’t your fault.

I’m here to help you untangle the strands and unburden yourself so you are no longer exhausted and overwhelmed. I’m here to help you feel like you actually survived it, because you did.

When you’re all tangled up, you can’t get out of it on your own. You need extra eyes. Someone who doesn’t pretend everything is fine. Someone who truly believes what you share. And understands.

You’re not crazy. You’re not being dramatic. You’re not too much. What you are feeling is real, even if other people haven’t understood it.

In our sessions, you’ll be given freedom to express how you’re really feeling.

You won’t be told to hold back or tone down. I can handle whatever you need to get out.

At first, what you share may feel irrational. But you may just need the language and understanding to decipher what’s happening in your body.

Together, we’ll sort through the emotional and physical sensations you’re experiencing to find the information they have to give you. To find the value. The wisdom.

And piece by piece, strand by strand, we will untangle the knots that have been tightening around you. Until eventually, you can exhale. You can rest. You can finally find relief.

How we untangle the trauma.

How it feels when you’re finally free.

It doesn’t happen overnight, but over time, you’ll start to feel…better. Lighter. More in control.

It’s not that the trauma goes away. It’s just that it no longer has a chokehold on you.

My clients come into the session and say things like:

“I feel genuinely happy today.”

“I don’t remember the last time I had an emotional flashback.”

“I just feel like I’m handling life better.”

“Huh, I just kind of realized I’m not feeling depressed anymore.”

“I feel like myself for the first time.”

“Life is still a lot, but I no longer feel the deep need to be heard by everyone else. I can give it to myself now.”

The trauma is still a part of your story, but you know you’re going to be okay.

And where there was once an overgrown invasive vine, there’s now space for the real you to expand and flourish.

Why I work with trauma.

Year after year, clients showed up with symptoms rooted in issues far deeper than what was happening in their present lives.

Self-loathing tied to a critical parent.

People-pleasing tied to an emotionally volatile childhood.

Anxiety rooted in an illness that nearly took their life.

Everything in our lives has a root cause. And until we uncover it and untangle the vines that have grown out of it, we’ll continue to live captive to it. Overcome by every emotion. Out of control. Overwhelmed and exhausted.

But we don’t have to stay stuck in those patterns.

That’s why I’ve spent years getting extra training and certifications to specialize in trauma. Because I want to help you find the relief you need.

You can regain control of your life.

When you finally untangle the trauma, whether from your childhood or something more recent, you regain control of your life.

This is about taking back the reins of your life.

But knowing you don’t have to do it alone.

The trauma didn’t happen in a vacuum, and it won’t be healed in a vacuum either.

Together, we can untangle the mess and help you get to a place where you can finally breathe again.

Hi, I’m Julia.

I got into this work because I've seen what real healing looks like. And I've seen what it looks like when it doesn't happen.

Across every setting I've worked in, jails, inpatient hospitals, clinics, group practices, I kept meeting people who were trying so hard. Showing up, doing the work, and still feeling stuck. That stayed with me.

It's part of why I'm so drawn to EMDR, parts work, and somatic therapy. Not just as a clinician, but as someone who has done this work myself. I know what it feels like to understand something about yourself and still not feel any different. I also know what it feels like when something finally shifts, when the body starts to release what it's been holding onto for years.

That's what I want for the people I work with.

Watching someone who has spent years just surviving start to actually live. Seeing them feel lighter, more like themselves. Knowing that one person's healing ripples out into everything around them.

That's why I show up every day.

HOW I WORK

Every person who comes to me has a different story. But the work follows the same foundation:

We begin by assessing what's fragmented in your mind and body, and we build from there.

Building internal safety first

As we begin addressing the current symptoms you’re experiencing, you’ll likely move through some uncomfortable feelings. That’s where my holistic approach to therapy comes in. When your body and mind feel disjointed, it can be very difficult to feel safe. Your mind is saying one thing, but your body is trying to communicate another. Through emotional and somatic processing, as well as bilateral stimulation, I help you build a sense of internal safety and cohesion.

This holistic approach to your body and mind lays the foundation for EMDR.

PARTS WORK - SOMATIC

Processing what's been stored.

From there, we bring in EMDR & Somatic therapy. Bilateral stimulation along with the EMDR protocol helps the brain and nervous system integrate what hasn’t been properly processed, often material that has never been fully reached through talking alone. The body begins to release what it's been holding. Slowly, the patterns that once felt impossible to shift start to move. The mind and body work together to process what has been stored.

At your pace, always

There's no fixed protocol here. Some people are ready to go deep from the very first session. Others need months to build the foundation before we get there. I follow your lead and work at the pace your system can handle.

ATTUNED CARE

The goal throughout is the same: not just understanding what happened, but actually feeling different because of the work.
