Julia Nichols, LCSW

I chose to work in mental health because I wanted to understand myself and others on a deeper level and to use that understanding to help people heal. I’ve since found a true passion for guiding others toward greater clarity and peace.

I’ve seen firsthand how transformative therapy can be. The guidance and compassion of my own therapists deeply shaped my healing, and I feel honored to now share that same gift with others.

Choosing to start therapy can be a scary experience. I want to make that leap as easy as possible. All I ask is that you come with an openness and a willingness to try!

My Specialties & Experience

I work with men and women navigating a wide range of challenges, including C-PTSD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, substance use, ADHD, and more. Many people come to me feeling unsure where to begin, often carrying multiple diagnoses or long-standing concerns. I want you to know that healing is possible.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Memphis and my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver. My background includes work in diverse settings such as an inpatient mental health hospital, a jail-based program, a nonprofit focused on food access, a women’s health practice, and substance abuse treatment. Through these experiences, I felt called to address the root causes of symptoms related to trauma, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, distractibility, fears and phobias, grief, and other challenges linked to past distressing experiences.

My therapeutic approach integrates EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic-Based techniques, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I aim to meet you exactly where you are, helping you connect with different parts of yourself and gently guiding you through the process of healing and reprocessing.

Outside of Therapy

Outside of the therapy room, I love spending time in nature, enjoying casual hangs with friends, and diving into different crafting hobbies. You can often find me staying active, listening to live music, or cleaning as a way to unwind and reset. I’m also no stranger to a good TV binge when I need a cozy night in.

I do my best to practice what I teach, using the same coping skills and mindfulness tools I share with clients to stay grounded and regulated in my own life.
